"But I'm not..." It fell on deaf ears as the shepherd left her quarters. What she had meant was that it would seem strange having anyone come along with her, let alone having a preacher there to defend her, especially if things turned especially nasty in which it sometimes did. She didn't know of any preacher taking up arms against someone meaning harm. Skye carried a small but lethal pistol in her boot. Ever since one particular incident that happened when she was first starting out. She hated to have to use it, though knew that it could save her life some day. She had never forgotten how scared she had been on the occasion where things had gone wrong. It had been one of the other women that had shot the man harassing her, and had strongly suggested she get herself a weapon to use in defense. Skye couldn't see a man of the cloth shooting another... Ai ya!... Skye rose swiftly from her chair and followed in the direction the Preacher had taken. She didn't get far, nor did she miss the conversation taking place, or the way Sev had grasped, then let go of Cy's arm. "I'll take you up on that offer Shepherd." Shifting her gaze, her eyes hardened as she looked in Sev's direction. "I think you should get your definitions straight, Sev. There is a huge difference between a Companion and a Whore and I think a whore would be the only one that would have you!" She swiftly turned her heel, heading back towards her quarters and closed the door behind her, effectively locking herself inside. |

"What the hell?" Sev said as he watched the Companion walk away. He looked back and forth from the shepherd to Skylyn. "This is crazy..a whor..," Sev glanced at Cy who stared back, "Companion and a preacher. This flight..is..forget it." The crewmember walked off shaking his head. Cy smiled and went to find his quarters. Eventually he found a small room with a single empty bunk. The shepherd took off his coat then his outer wear and crawled into the bunk. He lay in the bunk staring up at the ceiling. The engines hummed peacefully. The collar came off easily enough. How long has it been? Three years? I'm ready to try it on my own. The Fathers knew that...Persephone was just a test. ::Later:: The shepherd awoke. For a moment he didn't know where he was, then Cy remembered the ship, Skylyn and his decision. What are you doing? Why did you offer to do that? He got up and dressed quickly. Cy opened the door and made his way to the small galley. He took some coffee and waited for Skylyn. She'll understand. But the priest felt awful, and the bitter coffee, didn't help him feel better. |

Skye had set to work setting the smaller ship up as her living quarters. She tactfully used drapery and special partitions to separate the bedroom from the living area, from the kitchenette, from the cockpit of the vessel. She even had a small bathroom in the fighter, making her totally self sufficient should she travel apart from the Cavalier. With the space she had within the craft, it was easy to set up the living area in such a way so that it could be changed into a separate bedroom if required. By the time she felt tired enough to bathe herself and sleep, everything had been put where she wanted it. Her frustrations, thoughts of what to do and nervous energy had been expended productively. It still took her a while to fall asleep, though when she did, it was deep and dreamless. ::: Morning ::: She woke slowly, stretching her sinuous body and rose from the comfortable bed. Skye smiled as she took in the fruits of her labors the night before. All the rich colours of purples, plums, reds, violets and various colours in between. The cushions invited one to rest back on the chairs, the small coffee table in a practical place. Everything was secured in one way or another so that it wouldn't go flying if there was a fast take off required again. Skye dressed carefully, making her way through to where the galley was, still unsure if she had made the right decision the previous night or if it had just been a spur of the moment decision based on how she had seen Cy deal with Sev after the annoyance she had felt in regards to the latter's comments. |

Cy nodded to the Companion as she entered the galley. He refrained from speaking to her. As Skylyn prepared her breakfast, Cy approached her. "I think our arrangement last night was made in a haste born of need. I started to think about it..perhaps it would be better if we kept our...interests separate," the shepherd suggested. |

Skye gave Bianca a nod as she past the girl, then looked up at the Shepherd, "Yes, it was a rather hasty decision and one that should not have been made so quickly. Not to say that if you wished to travel to one of my destinations sometime that you couldn't catch a ride, but I think it would be for the best if we didn't have that arrangement." A gentle smile graced her face as she looked at the Preacher. "And another thing, call me Skye. My friends do. Skylyn is for formal occasions." She gave him a wink and turned to get herself a coffee. Pulling out a small container from the folds of her outfit, Skye took a spoon full of it and placed the container up where the other coffee was. She had purchased coffee and tea a few days before she had decided to leave and had them packed carefully in her baggage. |

Sev walked in the room, rubbing his hands togther. "Breakfast, whats for?" Asked Sev, his question directed at Bianca in gramitcally wrong sense. She served he some toast. "Whats wrong?" Asked Sev, rubbing Bianca's back. Bianca's face worsened, a saddening face imprinted itself on her face. "Morning crew, alls well, Skye, Black list anyone with Li or Il at the end of thier name, alls well" Said Anthony as he strolled to the table. Grabbing some toast he sat down with the others, and began spreading some artificial butter across it. He looked up to Bianca and said. "Good toast", This caused Bianca to flood in tears and run off. Everyone on the table stared at Anthony. "You haven't gotten back into the War have you?" Asked Sev, his face narrowing. "Well, I didn't want in" Replied Anthony, taking another bite into the toast. "What!?" "I said I didn't want in". Mumbled Anthony, Sev seemed to understand, Anthony stood up, and walked out of the room. His expression same as he came in. |

Before he could reply to the Companion, the captain of the ship wandered into the galley. The man made a few cryptic remarks, joked with Skye about something, Cyriacus had no idea what, then left the small kitchen after scarfing down a piece of toast. One of his remarks made the ship's pilot leave the galley openly weeping. Then he debated about 'the War' with Sev, but his words were so guarded and obscure that the shepherd felt more confused after the man left. "The War?" Cy commented, "Didn't that end a few years ago?" "Not to some people," Sev retorted. "Lousy Alliance, can't even conduct business without them cracking down on us." "I have a feeling that the people firing upon us yesterday were not affiliated with the Alliance," Cyriacus pointed out. "It was not their standard tactic for searching a vessel." "How the hell would you know what the standard tactic is?" Sev growled. He looked surly after Bianca had left the galley. "Just a guess," Cy answered, "Alliance ships usually annouce themselves not blaze away at you like a drunken farmhand." He drank the rest of the coffee. It had gotten cold. "What did he mean by the black list quip?" he asked Skye. |

"Wrong War' Said Anthony "Sev, you would know nothing off this". As Anthony finshed Bianca joined him, wiping her tears away from her eyes with a hakerchief. "You see, as the war for independence waged on, it allowed some other petty power struggles to go on unchecked, one of this was a mercenary division, the Northen Star, openly attacked a Space Colony, I was the Commander tasked with defending that station, and have for awhile, sucessfully defeating wave after wave, until I got caught up in current affairs" Mumbled Anthony as he shoved toast into his mouth, chewing violently. He gulped it down tih a cup of Coffee and continued. "When I got back, after we lost the war, I found that the Space Colony fell, and when I went to investigate, I found out if became a mercenary base, and Bianca was the only Slave they had I could rescue" Finshed Anthony, He gulped another cup of coffee down, but that cup of coffee he didn't get himself. "Yea, why didn't you tell us?" Asked Sev, His face narrowing, then he caught Skye in the corner of his eye then directed his attention at her. "Well, that settles things" Said Anthony, wiping his mouth and hands on a napkin. |

"I've not heard of that one. So this 'war' is more a personal war for you? And we've been dragged into it because of being your passengers?" Skye wasn't sure she liked the sound of that. "You'll be wanting the converted fighter I gather? By the sounds of it, I've gotten on the wrong ship. I'm no fighter pilot and with all I've spent on the interior of it now... I would hate for that to be destroyed." |

When he had first seen the Cavalier, Cy had figured that the ship was a merchant vessel or freighter, flying boring yet safe trade routes. He had thought about being a passenger until he found a world suitable to his liking then the shepherd would disembark and the ship would go on its way. Now he was being told by the captain that he and Skye were caught up in a personal vendetta between the captain and some old enemies. "Well I'm glad you finally decided to tell us," Cy said, the sarcasm apparent in his tone. "These people knew where you were docked. That means they have people watching you which also means they've observed myself and Skye boarding your ship." He looked over at the captain, the man seemed not at all perturbed. Sev had a look on his face as if he were trying to figure out what Cy was implying. "Now they think we're part of your little war Captain. You've endangered Skye and myself because now you enemies have marked us as friends or accomplices of yours. And all you have to say is: 'that settles things.' It settles very little. How do you suggest we resolve the situation with Northstar? Because I have neither the time nor the patience to always be looking over my back," the shepherd told Tran, making his displeasure known. |

"I don't want the fighter, its yours for now" Said Anthony, half of his voice gargled in his coffee. The crew sounded like they understood, he wouldn't know. "Thoes northys won't chase us, they can't, they couldn't even monitor or hunt us. We are fairly low on the list, its only if we are really unluckly that we ran into them" Said Anthony. He looked around the room, then he snapped his fingers. "I remeber now, I know away to get rid of them, not for good, but long enough for them to forget us. My contractor, The arms company, they want the northen dead to, if we notify, we might beable to form a small hunting party, and tell them to go hunt the northen, leaving us to go freely" Said Anthony. |
